Korean Villa Italia Project

This was a competition promoted by 8 Mount, a private Korean company, to address residential issues of space & comfort, with an Italian style as the starting point for the design scope. The location for this project was 40 km from Seoul in the Palbong Mountains, an area considered to be the perfect theatre for outdoor sports including golfing and rafting. The design request included a theatre, harbor, commercial buildings, a winter garden, private residences and a “Piazza”, a central point where people can gather during the summer.

The residential building designs were based on Italian mountain village, using their unique colors, materials and measurements. The retail area, theatre and harbour were approached using historical city references such as the roman “Traiano Market” and historic Tuscan outdoor markets.
